View emoji as text

Zulip emoji are compatible with screenreaders and other accessibility tools. However, you may still want to view emoji as text. For example, when a heart emoji is viewed as text, it looks like :heart:.

1. From your desktop, click on the gear () in the upper right corner.

2. Select Settings.

3. On the left, click Display settings.

4. Under Emoji settings, select View emoji as text.
